QuickCharge 3.0 Power Banks and Chargers

Qualcomm QuickCharge Technology offers fast charging speeds – over 80% charging in 30-40 minutes – for your smartphones. Many smartphones and tablets support Quickcharge 2.0 and the even faster 3.0.  To take advantage of QuickCharge’s fast charging speeds, you have to charge your QuickCharge capable smartphone or tablet with a QuickCharge capable powerbank such as ZMI Powerpack 10000 ,   Anker PowerCore Speed 20000  or a good Quickcharge Wall charger such as Anker PowerPort 2 Quick Charge 3.0 39W Dual USB Wall Charger  . Please note that ALL Quickcharge 3.0 wall chargers or powerbanks also support Quickcharge 2.

iPhone 13, 12 or 11 QuickCharge Support?

Please note that iPhones 13/12/11 series or the iPhone SE 2020/2022 DO NOT support Quickcharge. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 series support 20-watt USB-C PD fast-charging and iPhone 11 series, XR, XS Max, XS, X, 8, 8+ support up to 18-watt USB-C PD charging. Best solution is to simply buy an USB-C PD AC adapter.

Apple

No QuickCharge Support

All iPhone 13/12/11 series phones, XS Max, XS, XR, X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus support USB-C PD fast charging (50% in 25-30 mins). You will require a USB-C PD AC adapter or a USB-C PD power bank to benefit from this as Apple iPhone 5-watt wall chargers do not fast charge. Only iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max come with 18-watt fast-charging PD chargers.

iPhone 7 and 6 series support 12-watt charging that is somewhat close to Quickcharge 2.0 speeds. We still recommend buying a USB-C PD Power bank for iPhone 7 or 6 series to future-proof your purchase as all newer iPhones support USB-C fast-charging and do not come with an adapter.

iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XS Max, XS, XR, X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus support USB-C PD fast charging (50% in 30 mins). Apple’s 2.1 – 2.4 Amp charging on iPhones 7, 7+, 6S, 6, 6S+,5,SE,5S,4 gives performance somewhat close to Quickcharge 2.0. We still recommend buying a Quickcharge Powerbank for iPhones esp for higher capacities as it will cut the time taken to charge the powerbank itself to around 4 hours, using a Quickcharge 3.0 wall charger. Regular wall chargers will take about  10-25 to charge high capacity powerbanks.

Best USB-C Portable Chargers

8 thoughts on “Smartphones and Tablets with Qualcomm Quickcharge Support

  1. Hi, I hope you can help this really confused person! I am thinking of buying this quick charge portable charger: https://amzn.to/2q4q40I. I currently have an iphone 6+ and ipad pro 9.7, but I would like to future proof with a type C connection if possible. My conundrum is this. If I buy this power bank, what is the best wall charger to use to charge it up as quickly as possible? Apparently two ports can be used to do this.

I also visit the UK every other year.

    Hope you can help me!
    Thanks

    1. Hi Malone,
Considering your unique requirement, we will recommend two wall chargers. Either of these two will charge your EAsyAcc Megacharge D20 at max possible speed in 4.5 hrs simultaneously using one USB-C and one regular USB port with spare port remaining for charging other devices –

Poweradd 43-watt USB-C foldable wall charger has 3 ports (one 3 amp USb C and two 2.4 amp USb). The 43 watt max capacity ensures you can charge your powerbank with the fastest supported 25 watt and still have a spare port/capacity to charge your iPhone/iPad as well. It also supports AC voltage from 110 to 240 volts (for both US + UK operation).

Metrans 41 watt USB C wall charger This also has 3 ports ((one 3 amp USb C and two 2.4 amp USb). 41 watt capacity is adequate for powerbank + iPhone6/7/iPad etc. It also supports 110-240 volt AC for US/UK operation.

Other combo USB-C + USB chargers are either too heavy or too pricey or not of adequate quality. For example, Anker 5-port 60 watt USB-C charger is too pricey and on the heavier/bulky side for charging just two devices and Anker PowerPort II with PD is too pricey.

On a related note, for true future proof purchase, we will recommend a USB C Power Delivery (USB C PD) powerbank over regular USB C powerbanks. For example, Apple’s new iPhone 8/8+/X support USB C PD fast charging (and not USB C 3 amp charging as delivered by EAsyAcc Megacharge D20). Our top future proof USB C PD powerbank for smartphones right now is Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD. It gets charged in 4 hours with the bundled wall charger, fast charges latest iPhones to 50% in 30 minutes and comes at almost same price as Megacharge D20 once you factor that it also comes with a bundled PD fast wall charger.

      Thanks!

Thank you SO much for your carefully considered reply. Very helpful.

      2. Thank you. Your advice is very helpful. Could I prevail on you to also recommend cables? As I need to buy new ones, I might as well get the best and most useful ones for my devices and to recharge my existing power bank. I wish I had found you guys before I purchased my powerbank.

        Thank you again.

  2. Some powerbanks state that they have a Quick Charge input. Is there such a thing, or does it just mean that they will be charged faster if a Quick Charge wall charger is used?

    1. Hi Mae,

Yes, Quickcharge Input is a thing!. The problem with high capacity portable chargers (powerbanks) is that they take forever to charge with the usual 1 amp (or even 2 amp) or wall chargers that are often supplied with smartphones. A 20000 mah powerbank will take well over 20 hours to recharge with a 1 amp wall charger. With a powerbank with Quickcharge Input or USB PD input, you can charge a 20000 mAh powerbank in 4-6 hours depending on the type of input. For example, Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD has USB PD input and will get recharged in 4 hours with a PD wall charger. Anker Powercore Speed 20000 has Quickcharge 3.0 input and will get recharged in 5.5 hours with a QuickCharge 3.0 wall charger.

      Thanks!

  3. I’m looking into buying an Anker to use with my Samsung Note 4 AND using it for my Gopro 4 Silver on all my hikes. I’m curious to know if or which version would be ok with both. Especially curious on the 3.0 and if all is compatible or not.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Bernie,

Samsung Note 4 is compatible with QuickCharge 2.0 but it is NOT COMPATIBLE with Quickcharge 3.0..
Therefore, you can avoid pricier QuickCharge 3.0 powerbanks and can choose any of the Anker PowerCore II series powerbanks as all PowerCore II series powerbanks support Quickcharge 2.0.
We highly recommend PowerCore II 20000 powerbank for hiking and outdoors use .

      Thanks!
