Anker PowerPort+ Atom III Dual USB Charger – Charging Features

Anker PowerPort+ Atom III is a 60-watt USB-C PD charger (45-watt USB-C PD + 15-watt USB & 60-watt simultaneous combined output). It is one of Anker’s most recently launched USB-C chargers and comes with many new features.  This wall charger uses gallium nitride (GaN) chips instead of the silicon chips which make it much more compact and easier to carry compared to most similar output chargers in the market.

This dual port charger offers a total output of 60-watts and features one USB-C PD port and a regular USB port. The USB-C PD port can output up to 45 watts and the USB-A port outputs up to 15 watts. Anker PowerPort+ Atom III uses Anker’s most advanced charging technology – PowerIQ 3.0.

The USB-C PD port is powered by the PowerIQ 3.0 and can charge both USB-C PD devices (up to 45 watts) and Quickcharge 3.0/2.0 phones. The PD port will fast charge all USB-C PD phones, and also charge Macbooks, Chromebooks, and other USB-C laptops at 45-watt charging output.

The regular USB port is powered by the PowerIQ 2.0 and outputs up to 15 watts for Quickcharge phones. This enables it to fast-charge all Samsung smartphones at their fastest supported 15-watt charging speed and most older iPhones and older Android smartphones at 2.4 amp speeds.

Anker PowerPort+ Atom III is smaller in size compared to Apple’s 60 watt Macbook charger. The adapter has dimensions 2.7 x 2.7 x 1.1 inches or 6.86 x 6.86 x 2.79 cm and weighs 5 oz (142 gm). It has a foldable-pin design which fold in the adapter when not in use. This design makes this adapter occupy the least possible space while travelling.

Anker’s PowerPort Atom PD 2 60W is the closest competitor to Anker PowerPort+ Atom III 60W . Both these chargers output a maximum 60-watt but there are some important differences between the two.

PowerPort+ Atom III 60W has one 45 watt PD port while PowerPort Atom PD 2 60W has two PD ports with maximum output of 60-watt PD from a port when one port is used at a time and 30 watt PD + 30 watt PD output (30 watt from each of two PD ports) when both PD ports are used simultaneously.

The two PD ports of PowerPort Atom PD 2 make it more suitable if you want to charge two heavy output PD devices at one time. For example, if you want to charge a iPad Pro 12.9/11/Macbook and an iPhone 11 Pro/XR/XS at fastest speed at the same time.

However, it is important to note that if you have a Quickcharge 3.0 phone such as LG G8 or V50/V40, then Anker PowerPort+ Atom III 60W is the better choice as it can charge QuickChare 3.0 phones via its PD port.

PowerPort+ Atom III 60W PD vs RAVPower 61W PD 3.0

RAVPower 61W PD 3.0 charger gives a tough competition to Anker PowerPort+ Atom III 60W in terms of charging heavy devices.

PowerPort+ Atom III 60W can output maximum 45-watt from PD port, whereas, RAVPower 61W can output maximum 61-watt from its PD port.

Anker PowerPort+ Atom III 60W can output maximum of 15-watt from USB-A port and hence it can fast charge all the Samsung smartphones, whereas, RAVPower 61W can output maximum of 12-watt from its USB-A port, however, it cannot fast charge Samsung smartphones from USB-A port.

RAVPower 61W PD 3.0 is a better choice in terms of charging devices like MacBook Pro, Dell XPS, etc, as they can benefit from 61-watt power supply for charging.

Anker PowerPort+ Atom III 60W is a better choice for charging of smartphones and laptops, specially MacBook Air, simultaneously.
